How Virtual CDL Simulator works
Virtual CDL Simulator is an educational practice tool for the Class A combination-vehicle in-cab air brake procedure. Learners interact with simulated air-pressure gauges and cab controls, then move from guided instruction to independent procedure practice.
Practice the sequence
The current module covers air gauges and governor behavior, applied leakage, low-air warning, and spring-brake activation.
Reduce the guidance
Learn mode teaches, Practice mode reduces support, and Test mode removes procedural instructions.
Who it is for
The simulator is designed for aspiring commercial drivers who want more opportunities to rehearse the in-cab air brake procedure, as well as instructors who want a supplemental demonstration tool.
What you do in the simulated cab
- Watch the primary and secondary air-pressure gauges.
- Operate simulated cab controls in the expected order.
- Observe system responses during each procedure section.
- Repeat the procedure in Learn, Practice, or Test mode.
What it does not replace
Virtual practice supplements qualified instruction, the official CDL manual for your jurisdiction, and hands-on practice in the vehicle you will operate. It is not a licensing authority, does not cover every state or vehicle variation, and cannot guarantee a passing result.
